To Vampires

Wow, it's high time I blew the dust off this journal. There is a marathon post in the pipeline, detailing what I've been up to since the October Butcher Boy tour, but I feel obliged to offer a quick summary in the meantime.

Firstly, Garry and I have been writing again: All My Friends is now a well-established five-piece, soon to grace the famous front stage at the Cavern Club as part of the International Pop Overthrow festival. Garry has left Butcher Boy to focus on AMF, which is very sad, but so far the move is paying off enormously. We're putting the finishing touches to the new E.P. 'Up And Down The River', which we feel shows a massive development from 'All My Friends Get Hung Up'. The extraordinary Helena Garcia did the artwork again, and I've given the MySpace page a facelift.

I've been making demo recordings of my own songs, and decided to record a dry-run cover version which is available for download on my MySpace and LastFM pages: I had a lot of lovely messages about it, and was particularly proud of this blog entry by the lovely Knut over at Eardrums.

The majority of my energies have gone into the second BB record, where I've been allowed to play with all the coolest toys in the studio and to arrange what will possibly be the closing bars of the album for a seven-piece brass band. Also, very excitingly, the track 'I Know Who You Could Be' has just been featured in the CBS show 'Moonlight' in an episode called 'Click', and we've had a lot of very postitive feedback about the song; we've put it up on our MySpace page for download.

So, behold my mad piano and mellotron skills, on the telly, juxtaposed over gratuitous vampiric violence.
